Clubs

Here you can find details on the numerous clubs, teams and     activities available at Ysgol Gwaelod y Garth School.

In Ysgol Gynradd Gwaelod y Garth Primary School we believe every child should have the opportunity to develop as a rounded individual. As well as a comprehensive and broad curriculum, we offer numerous opportunities for pupils to take part in varied activities within the school day and after school. These opportunities develop life skills, as well as offering a broader range of experiences and interests beyond the day to day curriculum the school offers.

The clubs that we offer are run by members

of the school staff or from outside agencies,

which include Sports’ Cardiff and Evolve.

If we have to cancel a school club, especially

an after school club, we will contact you via

text message or we will phone you.

Le club Francais meets every week in the lunchtime break for half an hour. Children from reception to year 6 are in four groups learning French in a fun and relaxed environment, picking up the language through games, songs, stories, role play and acting. They cover a few different topics every term but children can join at any time.

By becoming members of Le Club Francais, your children receive a CD/songbook of over 50 songs, a handbook with activities, pictionaries and games, colorful stickers related to each topic to mark their progress on their sticker chart, certificates at the end of each term and a chance to get the "member of the Month" certificate or "Star of the Club" in the term. But most importantly, they get access for the school year to our interactive award winning website Babelzone to practice French (and incidentally spanish in included) at home.

Places are limited, please contact Anne-Claire Thomas by email acthomas.lcf@gmail.com or by text 07828007265. Follow news on www.facebook.com/French4KidsCardiff or twitter.com/French4Kids_LCF and visit www.lcfclubs.com for more information.

In Gwaelod y Garth Primary School we offer numerous instrumental lessons.

Pupils have lessons in:
• Guitar
• Woodwind
• Harp
• Violin
• Cello
• Brass

Pupils have the opportunity to perform in our Celebrating Success assemblies on a Friday afternoon as well as in various concerts that the school organises. Many pupils also play in an orchestra which practices in Ysgol Plasmawr.

The school works with the music services to offer these instrumental lessons. If you would like further information, please contact the school.
